Local Ecosystem – Leiden
Leiden has a rich ecosystem centered around the Leiden Bio Science Park. It harbours therapy developers, technology providers, knowledge institutions, healthcare providers, CROs and suppliers. Together this local ecosystem creates a unique value chain to support bench to bedside solutions and new technological innovations. Furthermore, Leiden provides an international culture, an efficient travel infrastructure, and welcoming medieval city center.

National Ecosystem – The Netherlands
The Netherlands has always played a pioneering role in regenerative medicine and the development of advanced therapies. Currently multiple cell and gene therapies are developed by industry and academia. The Netherlands is home to multiple internationally renowned key opinion leaders in the field of regenerative medicine. Its twelve universities, various science parks and regional investors are continuously supporting cell and gene therapy and regenerative technology development. More specifically, RegMedXB, a consortium of four Dutch and one Belgian university, together with numerous industry partners, government entities and patient organisations has set its goals to develop regenerative solutions for diabetes, osteoarthritis, kidney and cardiovascular diseases. This consortium, which includes NecstGen, has obtained financing from the Dutch government to establish a national manufacturing infrastructure for regenerative solutions. The Dutch ecosystem is characterised by its close interaction with government entities, patient organisations, industry associations, and regulators.

NecstGen offers access to its capacity, its expertise, and services to academic and industrial therapy developers all over the world. Being a Centre of Excellence, NecstGen actively engages with stakeholders in the scientific community, including knowledge institutions, manufacturing partners, and technology providers in the field of advanced therapies. Furthermore, NecstGen is an active member of various international research and development consortia and scientific societies.
Altogether, this nourishing ecosystem provides a breeding ground for innovations in regenerative medicine to become sustainable healthcare solutions accessible for patients worldwide. NecstGen is accelerating the development of Cell and Gene Therapies as Centre of Excellence and mission-based CDMO reinforced by collaborations and partnerships operating beyond the current state-of-the-art.
